About us

Alistair and Bruce Paton are twin brothers from Melbourne, Australia
(Bruce is five minutes older).

We were introduced to the outdoors at a young age but a passion for wilderness photography emerged as we began to undertake serious
multi-day bushwalks while at university. The two activities have been
linked ever since; the images here are a way of recording and sharing
the experience of being in magnificent wild places.

We worked initially with 35mm transparencies on a range of cameras
and many of the images on this site were originally taken in that format.
In recent years we have moved to digital photos, with the Olympus E-300
the camera of choice for both of us.

Both Alistair and Bruce have travelled extensively around Australia and overseas. Our work has been published in a range of publications, we
co-authored a guidebook to Victoria’s Grampians-Gariwerd National Park and we contribute articles and photographs to several magazines - our
work can regularly be found in
Outdoor Australia.

When not exploring new wild locations, Alistair is a sports journalist for the Herald Sun newspaper in Melbourne while Bruce conducts sustainability education for the Australian Conservation Foundation.

Please enjoy the site. If you like our work, selected images are available to buy as framed or unframed prints at our online shop or you can send us an email for high-resulution digital images that can be used in books, magazines and other publications.

We will update the photo galleries regularly with images from new expeditions – check the Current Exhibition page for photos from our latest trip. There is always somewhere new to explore.
