Playful elephants

These baby elephants were photographed at an elephant orphanage near Nairobi, Kenya, run by the David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust, which cares for and rehabilitates animals that have lost their parents to poachers. Elephants are dependant on milk for the first two years of their life and the trust ensures they are fed and protected until they can be released back into the wild.  Every day the young elephants - some only a few weeks old, these two are a little older - gather at a clearing to be fed by rangers using giant milk bottles, and to play in the red dust.
